Tutoring Standards
In order to meet our goal of being the premier ‘Tutoring College’ in the Northern Suburbs, Smart Moves Coaching Australia P/L has implemented an ongoing certification and in-service program for all individuals who desire to tutor with our educational team. We base this program on the recommended guidelines set out by The Australian Tutoring Association (ATA) in their Tutoring Association ‘Tutoring Conduct Handbook’ released in June 2006.
We ask that all tutors provide the following certification.
• NSW Child Checks (to be cited)
• NSW HSC results (or home state) (to be cited)
• Band 5 to 6 with accompanying professional reference from their High School.
• University Course of study OR Degree Qualification cited.
• In-service (4 hours) by each tutor in their respective subject are with Head Tutor prior to tutoring.
• Knowledge of the respective NSW Syllabus Course ‘Aims and Outcomes’ reviewed.
• Proven leadership and mentoring skills (cited participation in registered program)
• Wider community references, at least one from Sports Coach/ Music or Drama Instructor/ Church Leader/ Scouting Organization etc
Mr Walter B Sprinkle is both a parent and teacher and is familiar with the importance of selecting the right tutor. His criteria includes a thourough knowledge of the subject, ability to effectively communicate and an approachable personality. As our Director and Master Tutor , he chooses his tutors based on his professional experience which includes
Experience:
• 21 years experience in Education
• 2 years Head Teacher English/History
• 5 years experience tutoring individual High School students
• 6 years experience supervising first year teachers
• 2 years experience HSC English Paper One marker.
Qualifications:
Followed Bachelor of Science in 1984, Modern History in 1984 and Graduate Diploma in Education in 1987, NSW teaching certificate awarded in 1988.
